Add-on "Green Links"
How Green is the Website?
Additionally to the "Green Power Indicator" the Firefox-Add-on "Green Links" displays whether the called site is hosted on a server already before you click on the link. In that way the user can decide which website he wants to visit and might choose a "green website". Both Add-ons support the development of a "Green Web".
How it Works
You can download Green Links here. After the Add-on is installed an icon next to an external link shows the power quality of a website.
The Add-on relies on our central list of eco-friendly ISPs. The provider of the list must meet various criteria to be accepted. The criteria are developed together with our partners ecologee.net and BUND Rhineland-Palatinate (German Branch of Friends of the Earth). We distinguish three quality classes of green electricity in the Green Power Indicator. Exclusively the connection data and the called domain (with top level domain) are delivered in an encrypted way.
